Governor Mikie Sherrill, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing New Jersey’s 11th district since 2019, shared updates on her activities and recent events in New Jersey through a series of posts on social media.
On April 10, 2026, Sherrill highlighted her participation in a local food initiative: “Great to join dedicated volunteers at the Community FoodBank of New Jersey’s 24-Hour Pack-A-Thon, packing meals for families across Hillside. No one in New Jersey should go hungry – that’s why I protected funding for our state food banks and free school meals in my budget.”
The following day, April 11, she acknowledged National Pet Day with a message to residents: “Happy National Pet Day – to Goose and to all our furry friends across the Garden State! “
On April 12, Sherrill addressed a violent incident that occurred the previous night: “I have been briefed on the shooting last night in Union Township. As local law enforcement continues their investigation, we remain in close contact with officials on the ground. My thoughts are with those who were injured in the shooting, and with their families.”
Mikie Sherrill was born in Alexandria, Virginia in 1972 and is currently 51 years old. She resides in Montclair. She succeeded Rodney Frelinghuysen as representative of New Jersey’s 11th District.
