Governor Mikie Sherrill, currently serving as the U.S. Congresswoman for New Jersey’s 11th district since 2019, announced several initiatives and policy positions in a series of social media posts on April 9 and 10, 2026.
On April 9, Sherrill promoted a new grant program tied to the upcoming FIFA World Cup. She stated: “NOW OPEN: Applications for @ChooseNJ’s World Cup Community Initiative. The FIFA World Cup will put New Jersey on a global stage, and these grants will empower communities across the state to create extraordinary fan experiences. To apply, visit: https://t.co/lCe3EjfMmQ” (April 9, 2026).
Later that evening, she addressed energy policy in New Jersey. In her post she wrote: “New Jersey is uniquely positioned to lead on nuclear energy. By ending a 50-year moratorium on new nuclear power and launching a Nuclear Task Force, I’m setting the stage for us to get it done.” (April 9, 2026).
The following day, Sherrill commented on national economic conditions and foreign policy impacts. She posted: “Inflation just hit its highest level in years in March – driven by the President’s war in Iran. Every time Trump gets involved, costs go up and working people pay the price. I’ll keep fighting to bring costs down and deliver real relief for families.” (April 10, 2026).
Mikie Sherrill was born in Alexandria, Virginia in 1972 and currently resides in Montclair at age 51. She succeeded Rodney Frelinghuysen as representative of New Jersey’s 11th District beginning in January 2019.
