Governor Mikie Sherrill has announced a series of actions focused on energy development and business support in New Jersey, according to statements posted on her official social media account.
On April 8, 2026, Sherrill stated, “On my first day in office, I signed an Executive Order to increase new power generation. We’re growing solar and battery capacity – in just two months, my Administration approved six new solar projects. We’re modernizing our natural gas plants. And today, I took action to pave”. The post highlights her administration’s efforts to expand renewable energy infrastructure and update existing power facilities.
The following day, April 9, 2026, Sherrill addressed economic development challenges faced by small businesses: “Entrepreneurs like Joanne are driving our economy forward, but inefficiencies too often make it harder and more expensive to do business in the Garden State. My budget supports minority- and women-owned businesses, establishing a team of experts to help small business owners”. This message emphasizes planned support for underrepresented entrepreneurs through expert assistance.
Later that same day, she discussed changes related to nuclear energy regulation: “For too long, outdated laws have served as a barrier to new nuclear energy state in our state. I signed legislation to finally cut this red tape, removing a big barrier to new nuclear in our state.” The statement refers to legislative action intended to facilitate the development of nuclear energy by eliminating regulatory obstacles.
Mikie Sherrill has represented New Jersey’s 11th District in the U.S. Congress since 2019 after succeeding Rodney Frelinghuysen. She was born in Alexandria, Virginia in 1972 and currently resides in Montclair.
