Governor Mikie Sherrill has highlighted ongoing efforts to improve energy infrastructure and public transit in New Jersey, according to a series of posts made on April 13, 2026.
In an afternoon statement, Sherrill wrote, “I am committed to securing a safer, cleaner, more affordable, and reliable energy future for New Jersey. We have the infrastructure, the workforce, the innovators, and the experience – and together, we will make it happen.” (April 13, 2026).
Later that evening, she detailed actions aimed at enhancing public transportation for daily commuters: “We are taking action to improve commuter experience for the hundreds of thousands of riders who rely on NJ TRANSIT daily. Here’s how: Adding new rail cars, buses, and accessible vehicles Opened the new Portal North Bridge Directed NJ TRANSIT to provide a 90-day plan that” (April 13, 2026).
A similar message was shared in Spanish shortly after: “Estamos tomando medidas para mejorar la experiencia de los miles de pasajeros que dependen a diario del NJ TRANSIT. Asà es como lo estamos haciendo: Incorporando nuevos vagones de trenes y vehÃculos accesibles Abriendo el nuevo Portal North Bridge Solicitando a NJ TRANSIT” (April 13, 2026).
Mikie Sherrill is currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing New Jersey’s 11th district—a position she has held since replacing Rodney Frelinghuysen in 2019. She was born in Alexandria, Virginia in 1972 and now resides in Montclair.
