Rep. Mikie Sherrill, a member of the U.S. Congress representing New Jersey’s 11th district since 2019, has recently addressed a range of issues in a series of social media posts, including the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, the anniversary of the U.S. Naval Academy, and support for the LGBTQ+ community.
On October 9, 2025, Rep. Sherrill posted: “My statement on the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas.”
The following day, she marked an important milestone for her alma mater by writing on October 10, 2025: “As a proud graduate and Navy veteran, I’m honored to celebrate 180 years of the U.S. @NavalAcademy. For 180 years, its graduates have led with courage and commitment in defense of our nation. Happy birthday to the Academy, and go Navy! “
Addressing National Coming Out Day on October 11, 2025, Rep. Sherrill stated: “When our kids, friends, neighbors, and loved ones make the deeply personal decision to come out, they deserve love, acceptance, and support. As we see continued attacks against the LGBTQ+ community, I’ll remain an ally in the fight against hate — on National Coming Out Day — and”
Rep. Sherrill succeeded Rodney Frelinghuysen as representative for New Jersey’s 11th district in 2019 and is noted for her service as a Navy veteran and graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy. Born in Alexandria, Virginia in 1972 and currently residing in Montclair at age 51, she continues to highlight both national events and issues affecting diverse communities through her public statements.
