Mikie Sherrill, a member of the U.S. Congress representing New Jersey’s 11th district since 2019, has recently made several public statements via social media. Born in Alexandria, Virginia in 1972 and currently residing in Montclair, Sherrill succeeded Rodney Frelinghuysen in her congressional role.

On November 19, 2024, Sherrill addressed concerns regarding New York’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) and its congestion pricing strategy. She stated: “Make no mistake: New Jersey will not sit back and take it quietly as New York uses our commuters as a meal ticket for the MTA.” This statement reflects her disapproval of the financial impact on New Jersey commuters due to MTA policies.

The following day, November 20, 2024, Sherrill reminded constituents of mobile casework office hours available in Little Falls from noon to two o’clock. She encouraged those needing assistance with federal agencies such as Social Security or VA services to attend or contact her team through other means if unable to visit. Her message read: “Reminder! My team will be in Little Falls between 12-2 for mobile casework office hours…”

On November 21, 2024, Sherrill expressed opposition to H.R. 9495 by stating her reasons for voting against it. She argued that the bill failed to advance accountability for funders of terrorism while potentially enabling misuse of governmental power against nonprofits disliked by former President Trump: “Today, I again voted against H.R. 9495…it would allow Trump to harass nonprofits and effectively shut down groups he doesn’t like…”
