Representative Mikie Sherrill, who has served in the U.S. Congress representing New Jersey’s 11th District since 2019, recently addressed several policy updates and concerns on social media. The posts cover upcoming changes to Social Security payments, federal employment at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), and political criticism directed at congressional Republicans.

On July 8, 2025, Sherrill informed constituents of an imminent change to Social Security benefit disbursements. She wrote: “New Jerseyans, starting September 30th, Social Security will no longer be issuing paper checks, meaning all benefit checks must be deposited through alternative methods. In a post dated July 10, 2025, Sherrill criticized former President Donald Trump’s proposed reduction in VA staffing levels. She stated: “Our veterans have made tremendous sacrifices for this country. Trump’s plan to cut 30,000 jobs at the VA will undermine the very care and support they deserve.

Later that same day, Sherrill issued a brief statement regarding current Republican actions in Congress: “Washington Republicans are attacking working families.”

Mikie Sherrill was born in Alexandria, Virginia in 1972 and currently resides in Montclair. She succeeded Rodney Frelinghuysen as representative of New Jersey’s 11th district.
