Rep. Mikie Sherrill, who represents New Jersey’s 11th district in the U.S. Congress, has recently used her social media platform to address concerns about federal education funding and the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
On July 30, 2025, Sherrill posted that earlier in the month she had written to the Trump administration alongside her delegation colleagues to demand the release of $162 million in funding for K–12 and adult education programs in New Jersey. She stated: “Earlier this month, I wrote the Trump administration with my delegation colleagues demanding that they release $162 million in funding for K–12 and adult education programs in New Jersey. (1/2).”
In a follow-up post on the same day, Sherrill commented on the administration’s subsequent decision: “While I am pleased to see that they have reversed course, these funds should never have been withheld in the first place.
New Jersey families and children can’t afford the continued incompetence and recklessness we see coming from this administration. (2/2)”
The following day, July 31, 2025, Sherrill addressed another issue by sharing her statement regarding conditions overseas: “My statement on the widespread famine in Gaza and the deepening humanitarian crisis.”
Mikie Sherrill has served as a member of Congress since 2019 after succeeding Rodney Frelinghuysen. Born in Alexandria, Virginia in 1972, she is currently a resident of Montclair.
