In another tweet dated May 13, 2025, Rep. Sherrill condemned the Trump administration’s decision regarding Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Afghan nationals. She described this move as both “cruel and dangerous,” emphasizing that thousands of Afghans could face deportation and potential persecution from the Taliban if TPS is ended here. “This is a complete betrayal of our values,” she asserted.
Additionally, Rep. Sherrill acknowledged Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month in a tweet posted on May 13, 2025. She highlighted the importance of honoring these communities throughout the month by celebrating their contributions to American history here. “May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month! All month long we honor the Asian American and Pacific Islander communities and celebrate their contribution to the American story.”
