Our hearts once again ache for the murder victims of the mass shooting in California last night. We mourn particularly with the Asian community in Monterey Park that began the night celebrating the Lunar New Year but ended the night devastated by yet another horrific act of gun violence.

This is another American tragedy that cries out for leadership and action by our elected leaders. It highlights the gross negligence of those who have, time and time again, refused to acknowledge or act on America’s gun violence crisis.

Until they demonstrate both the courage and the human decency that their constituents deserve, our communities in our nation will continue to suffer these needless and horrific events. This blood is on the hands of all who refuse to act.
