Rep. Mikie Sherrill, a member of the U.S. Congress representing New Jersey’s 11th district since 2019, has shared her views on several pressing issues through recent social media posts. Born in Alexandria, Virginia in 1972 and now residing in Montclair, Sherrill has taken to social media to address budgetary concerns, security measures for Jewish communities, and mental health awareness.
On May 22, 2025, Rep. Sherrill made a statement regarding the House Republican budget and reconciliation package. She directed her audience to read her full statement via a link she provided: “My statement on the House Republican budget and reconciliation package: https://t.co/WKZTDq0GrY”.
The following day, May 23, 2025, Sherrill addressed the aftermath of a tragic incident involving two Israeli Embassy staffers who were shot outside the Capital Jewish Museum. In response to this event, she sent a letter to Secretary Noem and Attorney General Bondi urging for “immediate action and additional federal resources” to enhance protection for Jewish communities and institutions: “Following the tragic shooting of two Israeli Embassy staffers outside the Capital Jewish Museum…”.
Later that same day, Sherrill highlighted the importance of mental health awareness as part of Mental Health Awareness Month. She encouraged individuals to prioritize their mental well-being and support others during this time: “Mental Health Matters…We are experiencing a mental health crisis in the United States right now…”.
Mikie Sherrill continues her advocacy work from Montclair while serving New Jersey’s 11th District in Congress.
