Rep. Mikie Sherrill, who has represented New Jersey’s 11th congressional district since 2019, recently addressed several key issues affecting her constituents through a series of posts on social media.

On August 13, 2025, Sherrill raised concerns about school meal access for children in New Jersey. She stated, “As the new school year starts, many New Jersey parents are left worrying that their child won’t have lunch at school. Donald Trump’s cuts to SNAP and Medicaid are threatening access to school meals, which thousands of kids depend on to learn and grow.”

The following day, August 14, she emphasized the importance of Social Security for residents in her district. In her post, Sherrill wrote, “For 90 years, Social Security has guaranteed that after a lifetime of work, Americans can retire affordably and with dignity. More than 1.7 million New Jerseyans, including over 140,000 NJ-11 residents, count on Social Security and I will fight every day to protect these”.

On August 15, Sherrill criticized ongoing restrictions at Newark Liberty Airport by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), calling for more effective solutions to staffing shortages rather than continued delays. She posted: “The FAA is continuing the restrictions on Newark Liberty Airport instead of using their funding and resources to solve the staffing crisis. We need real change at Newark Liberty, not delay after delay.”

Mikie Sherrill was born in Alexandria, Virginia in 1972 and currently resides in Montclair. She succeeded Rodney Frelinghuysen as representative for New Jersey’s 11th district in Congress beginning in 2019.
