Rep. Mikie Sherrill, who represents New Jersey’s 11th district in the U.S. Congress, issued a series of public statements on social media addressing weather warnings, international events, and the passing of a local community member.
On October 12, 2025, Sherrill alerted residents about severe weather conditions in New Jersey. She wrote, “New Jersey: we may see intense rain, flash flooding, and high winds across the state today and tomorrow. Make sure you check the weather before traveling, and stay off the roads if you are able.”
The following day, on October 13, 2025, Sherrill commented on the release of hostages held by Hamas. She stated, “Today is an emotional day as we see the 20 living hostages reunite with their families after two years in captivity by Hamas. I join people across the globe in celebrating their return. We continue to demand that Hamas releases the bodies of the hostages who were murdered so”
Later on October 13, Sherrill shared her thoughts on the passing of a local resident. She posted, “My statement on the passing of Kyle James, a U.S. Naval Academy Midshipman and a Whippany High School Graduate.”
Sherrill has represented New Jersey’s 11th district in Congress since 2019 after succeeding Rodney Frelinghuysen. Born in Alexandria, Virginia in 1972, she is currently 51 years old and resides in Montclair.
