Rep. Mikie Sherrill, who represents New Jersey’s 11th district in the U.S. Congress, has recently posted a series of statements on social media criticizing former President Donald Trump’s policies and political strategies.

On August 12, 2025, Sherrill accused Trump of exploiting service members and law enforcement for political purposes. She stated, “Once again, President Trump is using our service members and law enforcement for political games to distract from his disastrous policies that are driving up costs and creating chaos in New Jersey and across the country. (1/2)”. In a follow-up post on the same day, she added, “Violent crime has fallen steadily over the last two years — but Trump never lets facts get in the way. He’d rather use our military as a prop to further his own political agenda. Trump’s not concerned about crime, he’s focused on consolidating his own power. (2/2)”.

Continuing her criticism on August 13, 2025, Sherrill addressed economic issues linked to recent inflation reports. She wrote, “Trump’s reckless tariffs are to blame for the latest inflation report. Groceries, clothes, and everyday essentials keep getting more expensive.

Working families shouldn’t have to carry the burden of Trump’s economic chaos.”

Mikie Sherrill has represented New Jersey’s 11th District since 2019 after succeeding Rodney Frelinghuysen in Congress. Born in Alexandria, Virginia in 1972 and currently residing in Montclair at age 51, Sherrill continues to be an active voice regarding national policy impacts on her constituents.
