Mikie Sherrill, a U.S. Congresswoman representing New Jersey's 11th district since 2019, has recently voiced her concerns on social media regarding national security and gender pay equity. Born in Alexandria, Virginia, in 1972, Sherrill currently resides in Montclair.
On March 24, 2025, Sherrill criticized the Trump administration's handling of sensitive military information. She stated that "Irresponsible, incompetent, and embarrassing, Trump’s national security team — including the Vice President, Secretaries of State and Defense, National Security Advisor, and Director of the CIA — sent highly sensitive military plans in an unclassified group chat, accidentally."
The following day, March 25, 2025, she addressed the issue of gender pay disparity on Equal Pay Day. She highlighted that "Today is Equal Pay Day — and for the first time in two decades, the gender pay gap widened to 75 cents to the dollar. And it’s even wider for women of color." Sherrill emphasized her commitment to working towards gender equality in the workplace.
Later that same day, Sherrill reiterated her concerns about national security breaches under the Trump administration. She expressed her frustration by stating "I’m furious because right now, the Trump Administration is being absolutely reckless with our national security." She called for an investigation and accountability from the White House regarding this breach.
