Mikie Sherrill, a current member of the U.S. Congress representing New Jersey’s 11th district, shared a series of tweets expressing festive wishes and discussing economic issues. Sherrill, who succeeded Rodney Frelinghuysen in 2019, has continuously voiced her perspective on matters affecting her constituents.
On April 14, 2025, Sherrill extended her greetings to the Sikh community, marking the celebration of Vaisakhi. "Happy Vaisakhi! I hope the holiday brings joy, prosperity, and happiness to all of our Sikh friends and neighbors across the state."
The following day, on April 15, 2025, Sherrill commented on economic policies implemented by former President Donald Trump. She criticized the tariff strategy, attributing financial challenges faced by New Jersey families to these policies. She stated, "No matter what chaos Trump tries to unleash on our economy, one thing is clear. Trump’s tariff “plan” is costing New Jersey families." Sherrill is pressing for an end to the "politically manufactured emergency declaration" allegedly used by Trump.
Additionally, on April 15, Sherrill provided a reminder regarding tax obligations. She emphasized the importance of filing taxes or requesting an extension on time. Sherrill shared, "Don't forget — today is Tax Day." She reassured taxpayers about the availability of free filing options directly through the IRS.
Mikie Sherrill, 51, was born in Alexandria, Virginia in 1972 and currently resides in Montclair.
