Mikie Sherrill honors Pearl Harbor victims and engages with NJ-11 student nominations

Rep. Mikie Sherrill, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing New Jersey's 11th district, shared a series of tweets highlighting significant events and initiatives she is involved with. Her posts reflect on historical remembrance, community engagement, and ongoing recognition programs.

On December 7, 2024, Rep. Sherrill commemorated the anniversary of Pearl Harbor by stating: "Today we remember the lives lost at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 — and we honor the sacrifices of the thousands of Americans who answered the call to serve in the days, months, and years after." She emphasized the importance of continuing to honor "the heroism of the Greatest Generation."

On December 9, 2024, she expressed gratitude towards volunteers assisting with interviews for NJ-11 students aspiring to attend national service academies. She stated: "Thanks to all of the volunteers who joined my team this weekend to help interview the NJ-11 students applying to attend our nation’s service academies — and to @CCM_edu for hosting us!" Rep. Sherrill acknowledged it as an honor "to nominate future leaders of our men and women in uniform."

Later that day on December 9, Rep. Sherrill reminded her followers about nominating individuals for a community recognition program: "Reminder to nominate your 2024 Hero by Wednesday, December 11th!" She encouraged visits to a specified link "to recognize someone who has made a difference in our community this year."
