Rep. Mikie Sherrill, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing New Jersey’s 11th district since 2019, shared her thoughts on recent events involving a local synagogue through a series of tweets dated January 29, 2025.

In her first tweet, "I appreciated the thoughtful conversation and will continue to remain in close touch in order to support the temple community — including the students attending religious school on Sunday and their parents." Rep. Sherrill expressed gratitude for discussions aimed at supporting the temple community affected by recent incidents.

Subsequently, she thanked the leaders of Oheb Shalom for engaging with her regarding an antisemitic incident at their synagogue. In her tweet posted on January 29, 2025, she stated: "Thank you to the Temple Leadership of Oheb Shalom for sitting down with me to discuss the disturbing antisemitic incident that happened at their synagogue on Sunday."

Further addressing this issue, Rep. Sherrill condemned acts of vandalism and noted law enforcement progress. On January 29, 2025, she remarked: "There should be absolutely no tolerance for someone vandalizing private property & writing 'terrorists this way' on the driveway. It’s not only antisemitic; it’s also criminal. I’m relieved to hear that the Essex Co. Prosecutor’s Office has identified a suspect in this crime."
