Mikie Sherrill, a member of the U.S. Congress representing New Jersey's 11th district since 2019, has recently shared her views and initiatives through a series of tweets. Sherrill, who resides in Montclair and was born in Alexandria, Virginia in 1972, replaced Rodney Frelinghuysen in Congress.
On January 29, 2025, Sherrill expressed her commitment to supporting the temple community and its students. She stated: "I appreciated the thoughtful conversation and will continue to remain in close touch in order to support the temple community — including the students attending religious school on Sunday and their parents."
In another tweet posted on the same day, she addressed issues of antisemitism and violence. She emphasized that these should not be present in New Jersey: "Antisemitism, violence, and hate must have no home in New Jersey. Every person has a right to worship as they choose — without fear or intimidation — and I will remain in touch with South Orange police, clergy, and community leaders as we work to move forward."
Later that day, Sherrill announced her legislative efforts regarding environmental concerns. She highlighted the importance of cleaning up brownfields for economic and environmental benefits: "Cleaning up New Jersey’s brownfields is common sense: it’s good for our economy, & it’s good for our environment. I’m introducing legislation to restore tax incentives that will make it easier to turn old industrial and potentially hazardous areas into economic opportunities."
