Mikie Sherrill, a U.S. Congress representative for New Jersey's 11th district since 2019, has recently addressed concerns over actions taken by former President Donald Trump and his administration regarding reproductive rights. Sherrill, who has been vocal about her stance on women's health care and reproductive rights, shared her views through a series of tweets.

On March 5, 2025, Sherrill expressed concern over Trump's decision to withdraw from defending the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA) in court. She stated that "President Trump announced he’s ready to walk away from a court case in defense of the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act’s (EMTALA) protections for emergency abortion care." According to Sherrill, this move could have significant implications for access to emergency abortion services.

Continuing her commentary on the same day, Sherrill criticized what she described as part of a broader effort by the Trump administration to undermine reproductive rights. She highlighted various measures under review or enacted by different departments within the administration. Specifically, she noted that "Trump’s Department of Justice is reviewing access to medication abortion, the Department of Defense has banned servicewomen from traveling for abortions."

Additionally, Sherrill referenced legislative efforts she had undertaken with fellow congresswoman Emilia Sykes during the previous congressional session. She mentioned introducing a resolution aimed at ensuring women have access to necessary emergency medical care regardless of their location. In her words: "Last Congress, I introduced a resolution alongside @RepEmiliaSykes to reaffirm that all women...should be able to receive the emergency care we need."
